Financial Aid Application Procedure

Step 1: Apply for Admission to Limestone College.

The earlier you apply the better. Our advisors and financial aid counselors will keep you informed about procedures and early deadlines which apply to special Limestone College scholarships.

Step 2: Apply for Financial Aid.

You need to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) . Our school code is 003436. This form covers federal, state, and institutional financial aid. Make sure that it is accurate and complete, and that the information is based on your most recent IRS 1040 Form information. File your Federal income tax form as soon as possible.

Step 3: Verify your Student Aid Report.

Within 3-5 weeks after you file the FAFSA, you will be sent your Student Aid Report (SAR) - the Financial Aid Office receives your Institutional Student Information Report (ISIR). Read the messages printed on the SAR and follow instructions about any corrections so that we can finalize and mail your Limestone College Financial Aid Award Notification letter. If you are making corrections, mail your SAR to the Financial Aid Office in Gaffney.

Step 4: Award Notification Letter.

Follow directions on the Award Notification letter you receive from the Financial Aid Office to apply for Stafford Loans. If you wish to decline any financial aid, email the Financial Aid Office at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Important Information about Verification

There is a possibility that your FAFSA could be selected for verification; which basically is the process where we as a school verify that the information entered on your FAFSA is correct. Applications are selected at random, so if you are selected it does not necessarily mean something is wrong with your FAFSA. This process just allows us the opportunity to make sure everything was entered correctly, and ensures that you receive all financial aid you are eligible for.

In lieu of the new verification requirements imposed upon us beginning with the 2012-2013 academic year, students/parents who are selected for verification will have to provide us with an IRS Tax Transcript copy of their federal tax documents. We can no longer accept copies of their tax documents from their tax preparer.

Students/parents can avoid having to do this by using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool on the FAFSA. If you take advantage of this tool, and are selected for verification, you will only need to provide Limestone a copy of your W2's and the Verification Worksheet.
